Where you serve several towns, resist the instinct to claim the widest possible area. A stated coverage radius that you genuinely honour is more useful than a list of thirty places you would only travel to reluctantly, because the specific claim gets quoted and the vague one does not. Being the obvious answer within a tight radius produces more work than being one of many possibilities across a county.

Those recurring domains are the pages your category's answers are being built from. Visit each one, look for yourself, and note whether you are absent, listed with stale details, or filed under the wrong category. That list is your task list, and you did not have to guess at it.

Consistency Matters More Than Anywhere Else Local identity resolution depends on the business details agreeing across a long tail of directories, many of which nobody has looked at in years. Old addresses, disconnected numbers and previous trading names sit in these places indefinitely.

Marketing teams are unusually bad at this, because years of positioning work trains people to describe the product the way the company wants it described. A prompt set written by the people who wrote the positioning tends to measure the positioning rather than the market.

The shortlist is shorter than a conventional local results page, which raises the stakes on being included. Being fourth on a map still gets calls. Being fourth in a recommendation that names three businesses gets none.

Every inconsistency reduces confidence that scattered mentions describe one business. For a local business this is usually the single highest return work available, and it is tedious rather than difficult.

Two implications follow regardless of which system you are studying. Being findable by the underlying search step is necessary, and being worth quoting once fetched is what decides whether you are used. Almost everything actionable sits in those two requirements.

Gemini and Google Surfaces Closest to conventional search infrastructure, which has a practical consequence: work that improves your standing in Google search tends to carry over here more than it does elsewhere.

Keep a dated note of what you observed each quarter, including behaviour that later turned out to be temporary. The value is not in the individual observations, most of which expire, but in noticing how fast they expire. A team that has watched three of its confident conclusions become wrong within a year develops the right amount of scepticism about the fourth.

Write these plainly and prominently. A page that says we serve the wider area and offer competitive pricing contains nothing a model can use. A page that says we cover a fifteen mile radius, charge a fixed call out fee, and can usually attend within four hours can be quoted directly into an answer.

Present but described wrongly means a source problem, and the source list tells you which page to correct. Present and accurate on definitional prompts but absent on the who should I hire prompts means your category presence is fine and your commercial positioning is not corroborated anywhere independent.

What a Local Business Should Do This Month Run five prompts asking for a business like yours in your town, from a signed out session, and record who gets named and what gets cited. Then fix every listing on the sources that appeared, starting with the phone number and address.

Why Local Is More Exposed The classic local query is a recommendation request with a geographic constraint, and that maps directly onto what a generated answer does well. Somebody asking who to call for a specific job in a specific town receives two or [https://www.88pianists.com/ ai seo agency] three names rather than a map and a list to work through.

Decide What the Result Means Four outcomes, each pointing somewhere different. Absent everywhere with a clean robots file and no third party listings usually means an identity and coverage problem. Absent with a blocked crawler or an empty non-JavaScript page means a mechanical problem, which is the good news outcome because it is cheap.

Observed behaviour leans toward breadth, pulling from a wider set of sources per answer than the others, and it cites forums, documentation and niche trade sources readily. It also appears comparatively responsive to freshness.

Include Something Worth Attributing A citation needs something to point at. Passages that contain only sentiment give a model nothing, which is why brand pages full of adjectives are passed over in favour of a competitor's specification table.

One local specific worth checking is how your opening hours and availability are stated across every listing. These are among the details most frequently quoted in local recommendations and among the most likely to be wrong, because they change seasonally and get updated in one place. An assistant confidently telling somebody you are closed is a lost job that leaves no trace in any report.

Answer the Question That Was Asked Content briefs generated from keyword tools produce pages that orbit a topic without answering anything. A page titled around a question should contain a paragraph that answers that question directly, early, without conditions attached to reading further.
